Make sure you are eating lots of cultured foods like yogurt, kefir, miso soup and cultured vegetables. Try using 1 tsp of raw apple cider vinegar in 4 oz of water with your meals. Lemon squeezed into 4 oz of water, besides adding vitamin C to your diet, can also help to stimulate your digestive system. Garlic, ginger, parsley, peppermint, licorice, cinnamon, bitter salad greens and turmeric can all help boost your digestive system.* With many of these you can make hot teas to sip 1-3 hours after eating. |
Other Ideas
|
Eat slowly. Take short walk after eating. Eat smaller meals. Don't take much fluid with meals, however, a little wine may help the digestion. Chronic use of antibiotics can destroy the good bacteria in your intestines, so you might want to avoid antibiotics, if possible.* Some studies have shown that commercial anti-acids can actually make your condition worse over the long run, as well as cause bone loss if they contain aluminum, which many of them do*. Don't forget that an overall good diet, full of vitamin rich foods and perhaps some nutritional supplements like greens, can help all systems of the body, including the digestive system, function better.* * This statement has not been evaluated by the FDA.
