Common Symptoms of Acne

Red, inflamed and sometimes infected bumps on the skin that can turn into cysts.  Most often found on the face, neck, chest and back.  Often accompanied by itching, pain and scarring.

Common Causes of Acne

Poor diet – too much refined sugar is a prime culprit; also hormonal imbalances, as with puberty or menstrual cycles.  An essential fatty acid deficiency, a lack of B vitamins and/or green vegetables can also be contributing factors.  Also some oral contraceptives and some chemicals from cosmetics and lotions can cause acne.

Vitamins, Minerals and Nutritional Supplements for Acne*

Vitamin A and D seem to be important for skin health.  Zinc as well is needed for healthy skin, perhaps because it is essential in order for vitamin A to be properly absorbed.  It also can support the immune system to help kill the acne bacteria.  B Complex vitamin can be helpful, especially if you have acne that seems to be exacerbated by stress*.  A good pro-biotic supplement as well as vitamin C complex may also be useful.  Magnesium as well seems to support proper hormone balance, which tends to be out of whack in many of those who have acne.  While vitamins may not completely clear up acne, (although they do for some people), in conjunction with a healthier diet, vitamins can help reduce the acne-causing side effects of stress, poor nutrition, and hormonal imbalances.*  Noni and Acai Juice have also been reported to have a positive effect on acne and other skin problems.

Recommended Vitamins and Nutritional Supplements*:
  1. Cod Liver Oil (for vitamins A & D, as well as essential fatty acids)
  2. Zinc
  3. Coral Calcium (with calcium & magnesium in a 2:1 ratio)
  4. Vitamin B Complex
  5. Vitamin C Complex
  6. Liver Support and Detox Supplement
  7. Noni 100 Juice
  8. Acai 100 Juice

Food Choices

We think that it is very important to eliminate all junk food, and especially refined sugars from the diet, and also make sure to get lots of fresh foods and greens.

Other Ideas for Acne*

Some natural topical agents effective against acne include aloe vera juice or gel and tea tree oil*.  Try putting on some pure aloe vera juice at night before you go to bed*.  Tree tree oil is an antibacterial agent and can be helpful as well.  You want want to dilute it as it is very strong.
