Specific Ailments
How Vitamins & Nutritional Supplements May Help

On the following pages, we are going to list certain vitamins, minerals, herbs and foods that have been useful in helping or healing certain ailments*.  This is for informational purposes only, and we do recommend that you do further research and consult with your doctor before making any changes.  All these recommendations have been reported as useful and effective, but you need to keep in mind that we all have different bodies and we all heal in different ways*.  There also is often more than one cause of certain ailments or symptoms, and these different causes will have different remedies.  You might want to just pick one or two ideas to try, or you might want to more than that.

Many Diseases Caused by Excess Toxins

We do think that besides a lack of nutrients, including various vitamins and minerals, many diseases that are prevalent today are caused in part by an excess of toxins in our bodies*, so whatever you can do to reduce that toxic load will usually be helpful.  This many include simple things like changing to non-toxic cleaning and body care products, including fragrance-free varieties.  It may necessitate some detoxing of your body*, whether you accomplish this with nutritional supplements like vitamins or antioxidants or by using a sauna or fasting, or a combination of these.  It may actually be necessary to change something about the place where you live - many building materials like carpets and home furnishings off gas far too many chemicals into our home environments.  So do mattresses and bedding products, and you are exposed to them exactly when you body is trying to detoxify and rejuvenate itself while you sleep. 

Being exposed to these toxins is not good for anyone, as they can and do accumulate in our bodies over time, contributing to the development of many diseases.  However, if you already have a serious disease, these toxins can put so much of a burden on your body that you are unable to get well, no matter what else you do nutritionally, like adding vitamin rich foods to your diets or adding antioxidant vitamins*.

It Can Take Time to Heal

Last, but not least, don’t forget that most diseases took time to develop in your body, and it can take time to get well.  Natural healing focuses on fixing the root causes of your illness, and this is why you do not usually get an instantaneous reaction, like you can with a drug that is designed to relieve symptoms.  The more serious your disease, normally the more time and the more vitamins and other nutrients and the more detoxifying that is necessary in order to heal.  Some natural health care practitioners believe in the rule of thumb of one month for every year you have been sick, and this will include the time it was developing in your body and you didn’t notice it yet.  Many serious diseases like cancer and heart disease usually are developing for many years before you notice them, and hence can take a while to heal, no matter how many vitamin supplements you use.  Be patient.
